Learning and Teaching

Learning & Teaching in a Contemporary Catholic School at St Mary’s aims to create new knowledge and develop understandings around contemporary Catholic curriculum and pedagogy. The broad area of professional inquiry is focused on the question of how we engage in a religious interpretation of the world through our curriculum design and pedagogy. We collaborate to develop understandings around engaging in a hermeneutical way of learning and teaching across all areas of the curriculum. This emphasis supports St Mary’s in the implementation of the Catholic Education Office Melbourne (CEOM) Teaching and Learning Framework, "Learning Centred Schools: A Sacred Landscape". It is informed by research from KU Leuven for Enhancing Catholic Schools Identity (ECSI). We are building on the knowledge and capacities of teachers and leaders to develop a culture of professional inquiry that enhances learning in a Catholic context.
