Australian Bushfires

St Mary's students show compassion for those affected by recent bushfires.

Bushfires in Australia

As part of the Faith Based Inquiry Unit “Working Together”, some of our students have been working with Caroline Egan (Visual Arts teacher) in developing art pieces for those people who have been affected by the bushfires. Please have a read of the wonderful writing developed by Caroline that accompanies the art pieces.

We send you these artworks created with nothing but love, care and respect for you by the students at our school, St Mary’s East St Kilda. As we have watched from afar, these were created as a part of our thoughts and response to the recent bushfires which have affected your communities. As a part of our Faith Based Inquiry Unit “Working Together”, we have recognised the impact of the fires, and the ripple effect it has had on not only your environment but also the lives of each and everyone of you who have been personally affected by this devastation. Please feel free to share these with your students, staff, members of your Parish and Wider Community to let you know you have been in our thoughts and prayers during your recent hardships and will continue to be as you rebuild your communities.

Kind Regards, Caroline Egan, Visual Art Specialist on behalf of everyone at St Mary’s St Kilda East.
