Principal Message

Welcome to St Mary’s Primary School, St Kilda East. It is a privilege to be a part of this inclusive and diverse community. In the Nano Nagle tradition, we strive to find the light within each other, as we work in partnership with parents, students and teachers. Parents are the first educators of their children, and we as teachers journey alongside you, in supporting the development of your child’s head, hands and heart by providing a safe, warm, and highly engaging environment. Central to our school’s holistic approach to wellbeing are our three norms: be safe, be respectful and be responsible.

At the core of our school community is our Catholic faith. It is an exciting time within the parish of St Mary’s where our primary school, in partnership with the newly amalgamated co-educational St Mary’s College, celebrates two schools, one community. This presents families with the opportunity for a Catholic co-educational secondary school precinct at our doorstep. In addition to this educational hub, is the exciting refurbishment of our main school building commencing in Term 2 2021, to be completed by Term 4 2021. Whilst maintaining the historical integrity of the building externally, the new spaces within will enhance our contemporary teaching, allowing each child to flourish further.

Our diverse community allows for multicultural and multi-faith dialogue. In turn, this offers our students many opportunities to develop their knowledge, skills and attitudes for lifelong learning, ensuring each student can actively contribute as active global citizens of the 21st century.

Therefore it is with a strong sense of pride and enthusiasm that l join this community as the principal, and will continue to build upon our dynamic school community, where each child and family are known to us, and can reach their full potential. I hope this website provides you with an overview of our vibrant school and please contact us should you wish to find out more.
